When one says "office jobs," what does that exactly mean? That might be a bit confusing because every where in the industry, whatever the sector or the field of work, there are offices. An office is crucial to every business institution, organisation, even the military and other government or private companies. If that is so, then it may be presumed that office jobs pertain to a general line of work duties and responsibilities. So, let's think this out: what sort of things do people usually do in an office? Well, an office usually have documents, telephones, computer sets, a receiving booth for visitors, cubicles, et cetera. From the picture that these things in an office create, it may be thus thought of that office jobs mean paper work, answering the telephones, using the computer, answering client concerns, and having a station in which you can do all these things. Office work is just one of the many jobs that belong to the administration type of positions.
Employees who do office work are most commonly categorised into two: the junior office workers and the senior office workers. In this article, the focus of discussion will be the junior office workers, also referred to as office junior jobs.
Basically, there could be no major difference when it comes to the job duties and responsibilities of the junior office worker and the senior office worker. Both of them get to do paper work, answer or make the necessary phone calls, input company data in computers, and face the company's clients. Both may also get to have their own work stations in the office. The only dissimilarity in the two types of office workers is experience. Office junior jobs does not require the job applicant to have experience in the job, but some degree of education and a significant share of secretarial skills such as knowledge in computers and in using office equipment, doing business or technical reports, correspondence, and other write ups, and filing skills is a must.
