Architects are also required to coordinate with landscape artists, interior designers and engineers while the commercial buildings are being constructed. Also, architects often have to visit the construction site and monitor building operations.
Education and Skills Required in Architect - Commercial Jobs
Commercial building architects often benefit from education in art, art history, mathematics, mechanical drawing and physics in high school. College degrees in architecture, engineering and interior design are also useful for commercial building architects.
Aspiring commercial building architects must work as assistant architects or trainees in architectural firms and related companies after studying. Training or apprenticeship programs usually last for about two to three years. Aspiring commercial building architects must also take license examinations after their apprenticeship to be qualified to work as professionals.
In architect - commercial jobs, architects must be able to draw buildings and make new designs using computer-assisted drawing and drafting programs. Hence, architects must have creativity and artistic skills. Also, there are many factors to be supervised during the preparation and construction stages so architects must have administrative and organisation skills. Furthermore, architects must have excellent communication and listening skills since they often have to interact with clients.
