Investment Consultant Jobs

The work involved in investment consultant jobs focus on the supervision of funds that are put in by investors and other business entities. It includes taking care of these funds and putting them up for investment. Investment consultancy has evolved from being a small part of the banking industry into a financial giant that bring in billions to trillions of dollars in revenue. Investment consultants may either be a business firm that provides investment consultancy or individuals who are employed by banks and assigned the task of investment consultant. Investment consultant jobs are available to people who are willing to be assigned these types of responsibility.

An investment consultant performs various bank officer functions along with additional duties that may include:

  • Financial analysis- the first consideration for any investment consultant is to study the current market and predict its impact on the fund in short-term or long-term situations
  • Selection of viable stocks and assets- banks and investors employ an investment consultant particularly for this reason
  • Plan outlining and execution- part of an investment consultant's job is to diagram a plan of action for the direction of the funds and submit them for approval. Once approved, an investment consultant may also be assigned as the fund manager.
  • Monitor investments and their progress

Educational Attainment

Because of extensive growth in the investment industry, many business schools have incorporated courses such as Investment Management in their bachelor's degrees. Job applicants should be a degree holder of such courses or other business-oriented course. Those with five years of bank experience may also apply. However, banks and investors have been known to seek out people with an extraordinary nose for choosing the most income-generating stocks, even if those persons come without formal training or education on the subject.
