                Bulldozer Operator Jobs

                Bulldozers are used to prepare land by leveling the earth, clearing rocks and trees, and minor digging. Land preparation is needed for industries such as lumbering, farming, and mining. Bulldozers can be equipped with different kinds of modifications which allow the tractor to perform various jobs. The most commonly used attachment is called a blade, which is a large metal plate with a slight scoop, used for pushing and clearing objects, and smoothing soil on-site. Perhaps the most common use for bulldozers is in construction. Construction firms and contractors are in constant need of bulldozers to perform various tasks on the construction site.

                Common Tasks of a Bulldozer Operator


                Bulldozing is not only about driving a tractor, there are a number of tasks that bulldozer operators have to perform to be successful in their field. Operators have to know how to manipulate the many uses of a bulldozer. This means that operators will have to perform modifications themselves, including changing the blade. Bulldozer operators have to be familiar with tools and other equipment that is commonly used in construction. Before the actual operation of the bulldozer, operators have to perform safety checks to make sure that everything is in proper working order. During operation, operators have to pay close attention to their job and their surroundings. Knowledge of the capacities and limitations of the bulldozer is important to assure the efficiency of the job, safety of the operator and co-workers, and longevity of the tractor.

                Becoming a Bulldozer Operator


                Most employers do not require any educational attainments, however bulldozer operators must be competent in literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. Since building construction requires teamwork, bulldozer operators must be able to give and receives orders with regards to their task. The most important requirement for bulldozer operation is experience. Many companies ask for operators with three years experience or more. Compensation is dependent on qualification, experience, and job details.
