The main duty of a contracts manager is to oversee processes, procedures, and finalization of contracts and contract agreements. This means that this position is responsible for negotiating terms and upholding policies that assure contact efficiency for the benefit of the project at hand. The contract manager is able to do so through constant review of contracts, meetings with other managers and directors, and revision of contracts.

  • Problem solve and negotiate issues to ensure efficiency and uphold standards of operation

Becoming a Contracts Manager

This profession is known as a higher education job. Employers seeking contracts managers often prefer applicants who have a degree in a related discipline. For those who do not have a degree, an experience equivalent is required. Computer skills are a must for creating contracts, reports, and presentations regarding contract work. Oral and written communication skills are needed to be successful in teamwork, negotiations, and dissemination of information to all parties involved in the contract. Organizational, management, and supervision skills are required to become successful at this job. Contracts managers are paid depending on their experience, qualification, and the project they are asked to handle.
