Electrical Supervisors Jobs

Electrical supervisors have the responsibility of managing the installation, maintenance, and replacement procedures of electrical services. This field is often part of the construction and maintenance services division of a project or site. This means that professionals of this field must have sound knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, and construction protocols. As a supervisor position, this job entails management of strategies, planning, and implementation of electrical works. The main goal of an electrical supervisor is to make sure that electronics and electrical services are working properly according to the standards set by the company, client, or customer.

Responsibilities of Electrical Supervisors

Dealing with electrical systems ranging from lighting and wiring to surveillance and networking systems, electrical supervisors oversee a range of responsibilities. These professionals can often be seen working with a team of electricians, engineers, and other maintenance crews. This means that electrical supervisors usually work on-site, but also have off-site responsibilities such as meetings or electronics conventions. Some of the common tasks that electrical supervisors have to perform include the following:

• Supervision of staff through training
• Inspection of electrical systems and determines plan of action for maintenance or installation
• Work closely with project managers, construction directors, engineers, customers and clients to determine schedules, specifications, and financing
• Prepare and present reports for budget, labour, and supply concerns
• Deals with customer complaints regarding electronics and electrical services
• Ensures that safety, health, and legal regulations and policies are followed
• Assures quality control through inspection and testing

Requirements and Qualification

Educational qualification for this position is largely dependent on the needs of the employer and the project or site to be handled by the electrical supervisor. In most cases, employers seek applicants who have a degree in electrical engineering or any other electronics or construction related course. In other cases, employers accept high school graduates with extensive experience in the field. Other skills required for this job include communication, teamwork, management, and organizational skills. Compensation for this profession is dependent on qualification, experience, and job details.
