What you should have

If you are planning to get into mechanical fitters jobs, you must have at least four years of mechanical fitting apprenticeship. Some employers trade certificates from on-the-job training and off-the-job training with accredited training provider. Other employers require a degree or diploma in mechanical engineer.

To become an efficient and effective mechanical fitter, you must have mechanical aptitude and interest. Your ability to use tools and equipment required on the job would be to your advantage. You must also demonstrate manual dexterity, good hearing and eyesight, strength and stamina, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of safety measures may also be useful. And also, you must be able to keep pace with the changing technology employed in the workplace.

Money matters

Mechanical fitters earning varies depending upon the location of employment, skill level, experience, and company one is working for. Mechanical fitters who render overtime work may earn more.
