Plumber Jobs

If the pipes don't work and the drainage is clogged, whom are you going to call?

Plumbers install, repair, and service water, waste, drainage and gas systems in homes and buildings. Jacks-of-all-trades, plumbers can also install and repair fixtures such as sinks, showers, toilets, and water heater.

On the job

Plumber jobs, together with pipe fitters jobs, pipelayer jobs, sprinklerfitters and steamfitter jobs, are considered a single trade. They have almost the same areas of work but with different specializations.

Plumber jobs may require workers to perform some or all of the following tasks subject to licensing restrictions:

  • study blueprints and drawing and building plans prepared by architects and engineers
  • advise client on materials to use
  • find, identify, and mark positions for connections
  • measure, cut and shape pipes according to the blueprint specifications
  • replace worn out pipes
  • test lines and joints as required by plumbing regulations
  • install and repair fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and bathrooms.

Plumbers may specialise as drainers, gasfitter, heating and ventilation plumber, roofing plumber, sprinkler fitter, and irrigation installer.
