Construction services director jobs are the types of jobs involving the guidance and oversight of construction projects. As the construction services director, you are responsible for overseeing the different aspects involved in the construction project. These may include bid procurement, budget alignment, cost control, quality control, project phasing, safety and accountability, schedule management, and scope development. Your job also requires you to work closely with the construction services manager and other superintendents so it is important for you to develop a good professional relationship with them. Excellent communication skills in both oral and written forms are also needed.

Your tasks and responsibilities as a construction services director is to define parameters, organise teams, develop plans and schedules, establish effective cost control, and maintain management control of construction projects. You are also responsible for the preparation of paperwork, the breaking down of insurance, the estimation of costs, and the comparison of bids. To minimise operation delays and to prevent budget overspendings, you have to review all design documents and construction plans. You need to coordinate and manage the entire construction process from the conceptual development stage until the final construction. The main objective here is to make sure that the project finishes not only right on schedule but also within the budget.

A college diploma is not necessary to qualify for construction services director jobs because most employers hire even college undergraduates. You need a previous working experience of at least seven years in the construction industry before employers consider you for the job. Background and experience in budget management, construction management, construction supervision, cost control, design coordination, project delivery, and project planning are also very important. Having a thorough understanding of architectural design, building code requirements, and structural engineering methods is also needed. Knowledge in blueprint reading, construction technologies, cost estimation, engineering, or scheduling is an advantage. Proficiency in basic computer applications can be very beneficial.
