The certified chartered accountant is a British qualified accountant title conferred by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). In Australia, the certified chartered accountant is considered as equivalent to a bachelors degree in accountancy. Certified chartered accountants can take examinations or advanced standing from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia or the National Institute of Accountants. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and National Institute of Accountants also enable ACCA certified accountants to get a skill assessment as an Accountant for migration to Australia.
To become a certified chartered accountant, you must pass 14 professional examinations and undergo three years of supervised accountancy experience. Subjects included in the examinations include: financial accounting, financial audit, management accounting, taxation, company law, management information systems, strategic management, and financial management. The ACCA gives worldwide professional accountancy examinations twice a year, usually in June and December. Certified chartered accountants can work in various fields of business and finance. They may work in public practice, in the private sector, and in government agencies.
