Chemical Engineer Jobs

Chemical engineer jobs are primarily involved in the conversion of basic raw materials into different products and the design and operation of plants and equipment in industrial processes. In 1924, the Institution of Chemical Engineers defined a chemical engineer as a person who is “experienced in the design, construction, and operation of plant and works in which matter undergoes a change of state and composition.”

In the past, chemical engineer jobs have focused on the field of process engineering. Today, chemical engineers are involved in the development and production of different products and chemicals for use in aerospace, automotive, biomedical, electronic, military, and environmental applications. These products include extra strength fibres, adhesives, fabrics, materials for implants and prosthetics, gels for medical uses, pharmaceuticals, and films used for opto-electronic gadgets. Chemical engineers are also involved in biology and biomedical engineering projects. These include research on biopolymers, proteins, and human genome mapping.
