Chemists need at least a bachelor's degree in chemistry while chemical plant operators and chemical engineers need a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or other science and engineering courses. Chemical jobs workers must also have many years of on-the-job training as well as licenses to work.

Chemical jobs workers should be people who are passionate about their work. They must be able to think in a creative or logical manner, at times. Chemical jobs workers should also follow the principles of scientific research and render accurate findings. Furthermore, chemical jobs workers should be willing to work long or irregular hours.
