Most people have this misconception that surveyor jobs are only limited to field work. What they do not know is that this is one of the most exciting fields in civil engineering because there are a lot of possibilities when it comes to the range of jobs that you can perform. In layman's term, land surveying refers to the method used by surveyors to establish property boundaries. Without surveyors, it will be quite difficult to set literal boundaries between neighboring properties from a real estate point of view. Aside from the real estate industry, surveyors also perform the flowing tasks: boundary surveys, construction surveys, engineering surveys, GPS or Global Positioning System, remote sending, forensic surveys, industrial layout and cartography mapping.

Now, here are the following career paths that you can take if you would like to make surveyor jobs into your specialization. You can work as a construction surveyor, boundary surveyor, hydrographic surveyor, geodesist, photogrammetrist and forensic surveyor. Surveyor jobs are not limited to being needed by private organizations - even public sectors are always in need of professional surveyors. In fact, most of the surveyor job openings come from the public sector because these are the organizations which usually require their services. Urban planning projects, developmental agencies and highway development are the types of jobs that you can get from the public sector.
