        Sponsors help support an event through financial assistance. They also help facilitate for other project needs. In some cases, sponsors may offer the use of their venues free of charge. In exchange for this, sponsors may use the special event for sales and promotions or different marketing strategies. This type of relationship and special deal is a common practice in media, arts, and sports industries. Others, however, may support charity groups and other organizations as their way of giving back to the community.

        To help raise funds, the job of a sponsorship manager is to build a good list of possible sponsors and event supporters. Sponsorship managers need to establish good relationships with business partners to encourage them to invest and sponsor an event or project. Aside from event management, they also make business propositions on how sponsors may score a great deal out of the event. Sponsorship managers often face the challenge of finding a "win-win" approach for sponsors of the project.

        People skills is highly important for sponsorship manager jobs. With confidence in handling difficult situations, sponsorship managers should also be good problem-solvers. They should be resourceful, creative, and highly organized. Strong initiative is also a good requirement for sponsorship manager jobs, especially when working overtime to find sponsors and persuade them into supporting the project.
