To manage a portfolio of key University committees; to provide secretariat services to one or more senior University comm ittees; to provide high-level executive support and advice to the Head of the University Governance Unit, and to assist in meeting the responsibilities of the Unit, including the achievement of relevant University objectives.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Provide advice and support on a range of University governance matters and plan, program and manage a key component of the University’s committee system.
- Provide executive support for one or more of the University’s senior committees and selected subcommittees and working parties; and manage the provision of secretariat services to a portfolio of key University committees as required.
- Provide high-level support to the Head, University Governance Unit, in the pursuit of projects, the development of policy documents, position papers and reports including: undertaking research, analysing information, preparing advice, briefings and recommendations and resolving strategic issues.
- Ensure the implementation of all University policies that relate to the areas for which the position is responsible, in particular those relating to equal opportunity, occupational health and safety, risk management, staff development, and staff performance planning and review.
Typical Duties:
- Serve as Executive Officer for selected University committees, including the preparation of agendas and minutes, summaries, reports and discussion or position papers and policy documents.
- Manage, monitor and review all aspects of the operations of a designated component of the University’s committee system and ensure the provision of high-quality secretariat support to those committees.
- Research and prepare briefing papers and submit reports and proposals on relevant aspects of University governance for consideration by University committees.
- Manage theongoing development and delivery of one or more high-level governance services if required.
- Develop position papers, submissions, plans, policy documents, guidelines, advice and recommendations on matters as requested by the Head of the University Governance Unit or by a member of the Senior Executive.
- Plan and undertake high-level projects, convene working groups as required, and undertake any other duties required by the Head of the University Governance Unit commensurate with the scope and classification of the position.
- Investigate and provide confidential advice on a variety of administrative matters referred by the Head, University Governance Unit.
- Act as Head of the Governance Unit in the absence of the Head of the Governance Unit as required.
