Apprentice carpenter jobs mainly involve the completion of tasks given to apprentice carpenters as part of their training. In some countries, those who want to pursue a career as professional carpenters are required to enter apprenticeship in order to gain sufficient knowledge and experience on the various areas of professional carpentry.
Under the supervision of a master carpenter, apprentice carpenters undergoing residential training will perform tasks such as building house frameworks, roofs and walls, do exterior finishing, and install floor tiles, windows, doors, stairs, cabinets, and many others. Those who are undergoing training for construction work will be tasked to take part in the construction of scaffolding, concrete forms, shelters, tunnels, bridges and other structures.
Apprentice carpenter jobs require applicants to have a good sense of balance, manual dexterity, be physically fit (must have the strength and stamina for hard labor), be able to work at heights, be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings, and be able to make accurate measurements and calculations.
