Australian's hit the net looking for work

8 December 2007

Unemployed job seekers are using the internet to find a job with the Australian Bureau of Statistic (ABS) releasing figures today that shows 66% of job seekers look for employment via the net.

84% of unemployed people still answer job advertisements the old fahsioned way by making contacting with an employer by writing, phoning or applying for a position in person.

During the recent election, you would have heard mention about the tight labour market.

Less than a fifth of Australia's unemployed had been out of work for more than a year while the figures also showed that the median duration of unemployment was now only12 weeks for those out of work.

This compares favourably with July 2000 when it was 20 weeks between jobs for Australian's.
