New laws favour employees

1 January 2008

Employees will enjoy better rights from this month should their employer's business fail. Your superannuation entitlements will be given the same priority as other debts incurred by the failed company and will be just as important as things such as unpaid wages and annual leave.

The new rules apply to any company that goes into administration, liquidation or receivership from December 31, 2007.
