Sacked seamen stay on ship

29 January 2008

Nine sacked seamen who will be replaced by non-union workers have refused to leave the 98-metre Triton - which is being leased to the Australian Customs Service.

The seamen have said they will not leave the ship until they got their jobs back.

The Triton is owned by UK firm Gardline International, which is expected to replace the Australian workers with non-union UK seafarers.
