Siemens to lose a possible 7000 jobs

Brazilian telecommunications units, Siemens plans to get rid of 4000 jobs and is advising that another 3000 workers be transferred to projects with new business partners.


Chief executive Peter Loescher has expressed an intention to sell the entire business or find an investment partner by June this year. This comes after earlier preparations for a sale in 2005 that were to be part of a reorganization of the company's telecommunications operations.
