Healthy snacks while on the job

30 June 2008

Many jobs don't allow much time for eating. Reports due yesterday and constant meetings can stop you from having time to eat. It's recommended that you try to have morning tea and afternoon tea, even if you eat it at your desk. Many jobs have a vending machine, but they usually contain high sugar foods, which won't be too healthy.

Try to keep some healthy snacks at work such as:

  • Trail mix or dried fruit and nuts.
  • Soups that are low fat, low sodium and high fibre.
  • Low sugar instant oatmeal.
  • Tuna kits.

Keep healthy drinks while on the job, such as:

  • Herb or natural tea - try to avoid adding sugar.
  • Mineral water - if you really want a flavoured one, look for low sugar.
  • Diet soft drinks - there are many no sugar options available.
