Attracting the right attention

6 June 2008

If you sign up with a recruitment agency to help you in your search for jobs, you'll want to be sure you give them the right information. Being focused in a particular area is better than a scattershot approach, as this will mean you can establish yourself in a recruiter's mind when the right jobs come up. Recruitment agencies will try to establish what you would be best for by looking at your resume and through interviews, but if you are vague it is unlikely they will be of use to you. You won't work well with recruiters if you have an attitude that treats all the jobs the same way, so target specific areas of specific industries to be the first to get a call when the best jobs for you become available.
