This senior high school in Karratha, Western Australia requires a qualified Wood and Metal Work Teacher. This position is to teach Wood and Metal from years 8 to 12. The position is to start ASAP or term 3.
The school is a progressive and inclusive high school catering for between 700 and 800 students. A senior high school since 1974, it caters for a wide cross section of the community, with students coming from eight contributory primary schools as well as other schools, both state and nation wide.
From within the Karratha town site, the school attracts Year 8 students from all six primary schools: Pegs Creek, Tambrey, Karratha, Millar's Well, Karratha Educational Support Centre and Saint Paul's. Students also come from primary schools in the neighbouring towns of Dampier, Roebourne and Wickham.
Karratha is a major centre in the Pilbara and central to the expansion of industry in the Burrup Peninsula. With long-term projects currently being proposed, population growth is likely to occur. This will also impact on the population of all the schools in Karratha.
Much of the business conducted in the Pilbara region has its administration centers in Karratha, including government departments. The shopping centre was once the largest shopping centre outside of the city of Perth.
Karratha boasts golf, tennis, lawn bowls, beautiful beaches or fishing and snorkeling around the beautiful islands of the Dampier Archipelago just off the coast. Its facilities, year-round summers and bustling country town atmosphere make it a perfect base to explore the amazing National Parks surrounding Karratha.
